From September 22 to 25, Timișoara hosted the 27th edition of the international symposium SYNASC – Symbolic and Numeric Algorithms for Scientific Computing, an event dedicated to interdisciplinary research in the field of advanced algorithms, artificial intelligence and formal methods.

During the symposium, Prof. Adina Magda Florea, director of the Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence, HRIA, gave a presentation as a guest speaker on the topic: “Explainability in artificial intelligence-assisted medical diagnosis”

The intervention brought into discussion the current challenges related to the interpretability of AI models used in medical image analysis, with a focus on:
transparency of algorithmic decisions
the role of explainability in the clinical process
strengthening trust between AI systems and healthcare professionals
This participation confirms the continuous commitment of the HRIA team to actively contribute to the development of responsible, explainable and applicable artificial intelligence technologies in areas essential to society. In an international context where AI is redefining standards in medicine, education and industry, such scientific interventions consolidate Romania's position on the European research map.
